If you are unsure about signing up to have an account with OnPage.org and still feel that you want some time to test the tool. Well now you can, we have available to you a Free Tools section on the website where you can test for free 3 features of our tool:
In this post I will explain each of these tools so you have a good idea of what to expect when testing it out for yourself! Keep in mind this is a tiny fraction of what we offer in the full tool, but still relevant nevertheless.
What is robots.txt and why do I have to pay attention to this? Robots.txt is a text (not html) file you put on your site to tell search robots which pages you would like them not to visit. Robots.txt is by no means compulsory for search engines, but generally search engines comply with what they are asked not to do. It is important to clarify that robots.txt is not a way from preventing search engines from crawling your site. if you have sensitive data, it is too trusting to rely on robots.txt to protect it from being indexed and displayed in search results.
So how does OnPage.org help? Simply put, the tool shows you the location of the robots.txt file on your website. The text file is usually found in your root-directory, however the tool will find out which directories are accessible for bots and which aren’t!
Why is Text Uniqueness important? You don’t want to be penalised for duplicate content, therefore, you need to make sure each of your texts are unique and relevant to the reader. Unique - meaning having no text which is similar or equal to another or incomparable. Search engines like Google, highlight this topic as a key ranking factor, if you have informative, unique content relevant to the search term you will be rewarded for it.
So how does OnPage.org help? When you have large amounts of information on your page, its sometimes difficult to know whether you have written the same text twice. With this tool, simply compare two pages to see if they display any similarity.
