Infographic: Let’s fix the web

These days, many websites are too big, partially user-unfriendly and require an unnecessarily high development effort. Microsoft and OnPage.org determined some interesting facts about the web in 2016. See the results in this infographic.

Users leave websites quickly which are not easy to use. Therefore, webmasters should make their websites as user-friendly as possible and continuously improve it. Regarding user requirements, many webmasters are lagging behind.

– Nearly half of the websites need 15 seconds to load. This is particularly unpleasant for all the mobile users (over 50%).

– The optimization for a specific browser also restricts the usage of many websites.

– 25% of the domains do not use any compression.

These are just a few facts...

Microsoft and OnPage.org have joined forces for the german initiative "Let's fix the web" to resolve the following question: "Can we fix the web together?"

To determine the current state of the web in 2016, the 20.000 most popular websites in Germany were asked about their properties like page speed and mobile-friendliness. The results were put together in this infographic.

With a quick scan (in german), webmasters can analyze their website regarding old directories, browser switches and accessibility to make them fully compatible with the modern web. So what are we waiting for?
